Building Use

St. Mary’s by-the-Sea occasionally offers space to other nonprofit organizations or to community members for an event. Spaces that may be available to reserve are described below. Contact the office to discuss the specific event or meeting series, and an appropriate donation. Note that concerts and large gatherings need to begin no earlier than 8am and end by 9pm to be considerate of neighbors. Of course, church events have priority for scheduling.

Edwards Hall

Edwards Hall is used for larger events, with capacity of 125 people with tables and chairs or 250 people with chairs only. Features include:

  • Elevated stage

  • Projection Screen that can be lowered by a remote control

  • Laminate floor

  • Kitchen with two stoves, a refrigerator, dishwasher, 2 sinks, cookware, utensils, etc.

  • Over 100 folding chairs

  • Multiple 6 ft and 8 ft tables

  • Two individual restrooms

  • Two side rooms, one of which can be closed with a sliding wall, that adjoins the meeting hall.

  • Those utilizing the hall are encouraged to bring their own sound system and projector. Set-up and clean-up are the responsibility of the organization using the space, unless other arrangements are made in advance.

Clay Hall meeting rooms

There are small meeting rooms in Clay Hall, the administration building. These may be suitable for a meeting or workshop with 10-20 people. Clay Hall has multiple restrooms.

Sanctuary

The sanctuary is primarily used for worship services and for memorial services and weddings officiated by the rector.  (See the Sacraments page on the St. Mary’s website for more info). The church occasionally hosts an organ concert or Celtic concert in the sanctuary, but does not generally permit outside organizations to use this sacred space.

Reservation Process

The facility user must fill out and sign a building use agreement at least one month before the event. The parish office will review the agreement and reply whether or not the reservation is confirmed. Contact the office at 831-373-4441 to discuss your proposed event, potential availability, and to request a copy of the building use agreement.
